Like my husband and I, have you decided the bathrooms in your home needs to be a little more exciting and updated? We have been investigating different bathroom themes. They have ranged from a natural look, bringing the outdoors in, a modern theme, the minimalist look, to the fantasy, expensive spa design. We should first set a budget which will help choose the theme.
Bathroom Themes -Set a Budget for your Bathroom Update
With all the options to choose from, bathroom themes are quite fun to research and consider. We want to save money on smaller items like the bathroom sconces and affordable, efficient, and quiet Panasonic bathroom fans. Whatever theme we settle on we might also consider that the end result should add value to our home and not detract. We want to stay within our budget while avoiding as much stress as possible.
One of our friends recently completed a renovation of their guest bath with a stone theme. Of all the bathroom themes this one appealed to me the most. This is because we live in a woodsy rural area and it would blend well with the style of our home.
Their stone themed bath incorporated different types of rock on the floors, walls and ceiling. They installed flat, slate stone to the floors and ceiling. It looked beautiful surrounding the tub and was such a contrast in color and texture to the smooth, white porcelain. Their shower consisted of the flat slate walls with river rock on the floor. This not only created such a neat look but would give your feet a massage at the same time.
Of all the master bathroom themes we have considered we particularly like the modern spa look. The spa look uses mainly white colors for almost everything. We should consider utilizing some marble for the countertops and floor with white tile for the shower and spa tub. Painting the walls a light tan or beige then finishing it off with thick and luxurious large white towels. In the end you will have a bathroom with a high end feel to it.
Maybe the bathroom themes you are considering are quite different than ours. For instance, maybe you have been dreaming about a fantasy bathroom theme. This type of bathroom would need to be large of course. It would have to include a whirlpool bath, steam shower and even waterproof TV.
Updating your bath can be simple and inexpensive and still add value and style to your home. Consider changing accessories and towels. Instead of hanging extra towels on hooks add some shelving, roll the towels and stack them.
Simply changing the light fixtures, faucets or drawer pulls can make a huge difference. Updating the mirror by adding a frame made out of chair rail and glued around it is an inexpensive update as well. When changing these items they should all be coordinated to further enhance the look.
Be imaginative but be smart with your choices as well, de-clutter spaces, and choose paint colors wisely. By following some of these tips you will add tons of value to your home.
